Most people think leather requires no maintenance and that’s the great thing about it.  They believe the only reason to clean leather is to make it look great But…

 

If it isn’t cleaned and conditioned (sometimes called protected) regularly, eventually its natural oils and top coat protection breaks down.  

 

FENICE, an Italian designer, manufacture and tester of leather goods and specialty supplies was quoted saying,   

 

 “Over time, undetectable skin oils and acids that naturally come into contact with the leather will cause cracking, peeling, or discoloration without proper cleaning and re-protection.”

What’s the solution?

 

It is recommended that leather is cleaned and conditioned 2 to 4 times per year depending on usage.  This is to make sure that the top coat of protection put on the leather in the manufacturing process is never worn away.
